MAGGIE MAIVILLE
Graduate School Portfolio
While this entire website is dedicated to my educational journey, this specific page is a showcase of my work in graduate school at Michigan State University. I broke my showcase into three sections: action research projects, which are items where I engaged in experimenting with my students and reporting back; resources I created - things I made that other educators might find useful or interesting; and videos, where I reflect on or share something I found valuable. Action research is important to me because it contributes to collective educational knowledge. I want to share my resources because I hope those can be of use to other educators. Finally, I included the videos since they are inspirational and aspirational.
Action Research Projects
ASK YOURSELF QUESTIONS
This website demonstrates both my ability to build a comprehensive site to support a project, as well as my passion for supporting students in developing their math skills. The research is about if providing students with a list of directional questions could help them solve story problems in math with more ease.
Created Resources
INFORMATION FOR STUDENTS WHO THINK DIFFERENTLY
This is a website that I made to help students, their parents, and educators. It is a collection of resources for students with various accommodations and learning differences. I designed all the image buttons on the main page. This artifact demonstrates my organization and tenacity.
Videos
After exploring the importance of creativity in education, I created this video to make a call to fellow educators to include more creative practices in their pedagogies. This video demonstrates my communication skills and passion for supporting the education community.
Since I don't anticipate anyone taking the entire online factoring course from the above section, here is an example video from more than halfway through. This shows my care for accessibility and multi-tasking skills, as I write on the screen and clear it while teaching and recording the instructional video.
